Fibera, Inc.
Fibera, Inc. provides fiber optic strain gauge systems for a wide variety of
transportation systems including roads, bridges, and railways thanks to our wide
experience and proven ability in the laser & fiber optics, and static & dynamic
signal processing technologies.
All optical
Being an optical device, it will not cause electromagnetic interference and its performance is not
affected by the electromagnetic noise by the surrounding instruments.
Long range
The monitor station can be located at far distance from the measurement site through optical fiber
link, therefore ideal for remote monitor applications.

Traditional strain gauge is electrical and requires three wires per sensor; multiple gauges are
connected in parallel. Our fiber optic strain gauge can be connected in Daisy chain, therefore
    much lower cost.

Easy installation
Our fiber optic strain gauge can be easily installed by welding, bolting, or embedding into concrete
structures. In addition, one optical fiber can link multiple fiber optic strain gauges.

No electricity required
Electricity sometimes is scarce at construction site. Fiber optic strain gauge uses laser beam
propagation through optical fiber to detect signals.

Extremely reliable
Traditional strain gauge uses adhesive to attach to the measured structure. Adhesives will
degrade through time and lose accuracy, especially when mounted on outdoor structures. Our
fiber optic strain gauge can be welded, bolted, or embedded to the structure, therefore no
degradation concern, and accuracy is consistent.

Low maintenance cost
Low maintenance requirement after installation results in low cost of ownership.

Athermal peformance
Traditional strain gauge is sensitive to temperature, which induces uncertainties to the measured
data. Our fiber optic strain gauge is athermal; therefore, observed data is the actual structure
